Q&A with Women's Track & Field's Ida Breigan

Get to know UTSA's All-American women's track & field student-athlete Ida Breigan in this Q&A. 

Q: Why did you choose UTSA? 

Ida Breigan: "I chose UTSA because it really seemed like the best fit for me. They have a great coaching staff, I get to live with two other Norwegians, the academics are solid, and the warm weather is a big plus." 

Q: What do you like most about being a student-athlete at UTSA? 

Ida Breigan: "I really enjoy the trips we go on and the awesome facilities we have access to. It makes being a student-athlete here really special." 

Q: How did you first get involved in track & field? 

Ida Breigan: "My parents got me into track & field. They were both athletes and taught me so much, making me love the sport from a young age." 

Q: What are you majoring in and what do you hope to do following your athletic career? 

Ida Breigan: "I am pursuing a major in cybersecurity, a field that fascinates me due to its complexity and the crucial role it plays in today's digital age. Following my athletic career, I aspire to compete at an international level. My dream and goal is to be the best in the world and jump over 7 meters." 

Q: What is an interesting fact about you that most people might not know? 

Ida Breigan: "I got a tattoo in Spain on a training camp, alone, when I was 17." 

Q: Who has been the most influential person in your life? 

Ida Breigan: "My dad has been the biggest influence in my life. His constant support has always helped me to chase my dreams and reach my goals."

Q: Who is your sports hero? 

Ida Breigan: "Allyson Felix is my sports hero because of her incredible achievements in track and how much she has done for women in sports. She's a true inspiration, showing what dedication and hard work can lead to."
