Ramon paces UTSA’s Friday performances

LOS ANGELES – It’s the second day of competition for the UTSA track & field squads in Southern California, as Friday opened events at the Beach Invitational in Long Beach and the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa.

Leading the way for the Roadrunners in California on Friday, Harlingen, Texas junior Idol Ramon finished fifth overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Beach Invite, running a season-best 9:35.10 to log the eighth-fastest clocking in the American Athletic Conference this season.

The bulk of UTSA’s weekend performances in jumps, throws and track events will be contested on Saturday as the Beach Invitational and Bryan Clay Invitational continue to their final day of competition.
