2023 UTSA Invitational All-Tournament team announced

SAN ANTONIO — The 2023 UTSA Invitational All-Tournament team has been selected, with the Roadrunners landing four on the squad, including Tournament MVP Mia Soerensen, following a perfect weekend at the Convocation Center. 
 

Soerensen was dominant in victories over Texas Southern, Missouri State, and Texas A&M-Commerce, totaling 34 kills for an average of 3.40 kills-per-set, converting at a .368 clip. Defensively, she added five block assists to her line, wrapping up the weekend with 36.5 points. 
 
Also making the team from UTSA, freshman Makenna Wiepert logged 110 assists over 10 sets, picking up 12 service aces along the way. Joining Wiepert and Soerensen, senior Aliah Giroux and sophomore Katelyn Krienke round out the host school's selections, with Giroux averaging 4.5 digs-per-set, while Krienke boasted nine blocks to go with 25 kills. 
 
Behind UTSA, Missouri State had the second-most selections, landing Teagan Polcovich and Azyah Green on the team. Polcovich managed 43 digs for the second-highest total at the tournament, behind Giroux, who dug 45 attacks, while Green delivered 25 kills and 12 blocks for the Bears. 
 
Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Southern each placed one on the all-tournament roster, as the Lion's libero Jade Smith made the cut thanks to a 33-dig weekend. The Lady Tigers are represented by Kennedy Reed, who paced TSU with 24 terminations.
