Roadrunners soar up leaderboard on Monday at Trinity Forest Invitational

DALLAS — Bolstered by four par-or-better scorecards, the UTSA men's golf team moved four spots up the leaderboard into seventh place on Monday at the Trinity Forest Invitational at Trinity Forest Golf Club (par 72/7,372 yards).

The Roadrunners posted a 4-under-par 284 in the second round to settle into seventh place at 2-under 574, only three shots out of a deadlock between Houston and SMU for fifth place. UTSA is five strokes in front of Conference USA foe Florida Atlantic and seven ahead of a tie between North Texas and Sam Houston with the final round scheduled for Tuesday.

Christian Fanfelle recorded his second red number in as many rounds this week with a 2-under 70 that featured four birdies. The senior from San Antonio logged three of his birdies as part of a 34 on the front nine before adding one more on the back. After shooting a 4-under 68 on Sunday, he is tied for fourth place at 6-under 138, three shots off the pace of 9-under 135 set by Furman's Will Morlan and SMU's Nathan Petronzio.

David Harrison and Brayden Bare both carded a 1-under 71 and Jack Wehman provided the other counting score with a 72 on Monday

Harrison, a senior from nearby Trophy Club, recorded four birdies and his second eagle of the tournament, a three on the 570-yard, par-5 16th hole. He jumped into a tie for 19th place at 1-under 143, as he opened with an even-par 72 on Sunday.

Bare, a freshman from Waco Midway High School, birdied five of the nine holes on the back nine en route to a 32 on that side. His second-round 71 vaulted him into a share of 31st at even-par 144, as he made his UTSA lineup debut with a 73 on the opening day.

Wehman, a sophomore from Austin, wrote down three birdies en route to his 72 on Monday, as he bounced back from a 77 on Sunday. He is tied for 62nd at 5-over 149.

Carson Gallaher rounds out the UTSA lineup in 87th (77-78—155).

Little Rock leads the 17-team field at 15-under 561, followed by SMU's A team (-14), Baylor (-13) and Furman (-11).

The final round is slated for Tuesday and the Roadrunners will be paired with Florida Atlantic and Sam Houston with tee times off No. 1 beginning at 8:30 a.m.
