UTSA opens fall schedule in ITA Regionals

FORT WORTH, Texas – The UTSA women's tennis team heads north to compete in the ITA Women's Texas Regional Championship on Sept. 22-26.

The tournament bracket starts with a round of 64 and splits in half in each round (round of 32, round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and finals) as winners advance in the main bracket and the losers compete in the consolation bracket. Although the fall schedule doesn't count towards the team wins and losses, the Roadrunner will use this time to gain experience and try to build up their individual rankings

Five Roadrunners open up the qualifying round of singles action on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. (CT). Freshman Adeliya Mukhutdinova will face Tarleton State's Elsa Boisson. Alexandra (Lexie) Weir will go head-to-head with Lamar's Ana Jolic. Newcomer Magda Tuells will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Victoire Delattre. Keegan McCain will duel with Houston's Gabriela Cortes. Eva Beyebach will face UT-Arlington's Nika Novikova.

Doubles competition will follow shortly after the conclusion of singles matches on Thursday. Weir and Mukhutdinova will pair up to take on TCU's Margaret Polk and Yu-Chin Tsai. McCain and freshman Fatima Gutierrez will join together to face UT-Arlington's Bruna Casasempre and Ana Paula Jimenez. Tuells and Aleksandra Zlatarova will pair up to take on Prairie View A&M's Gabrielle Leslie and Aleyla Wooten.

UP NEXT: The Roadrunners head to Cary, N.C., to compete in NC State's All-American Invitational from Oct. 1-9.
