BOCA RATON, Fla. — Led by a 15th-place finish from Camryn Carreon, the UTSA women's golf team finished eighth at the Paradise Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday at Osprey Point Golf Club (par 72/6,204 yards).

Carreon posted a 3-under-par 213 to grab a share of 15th and help the Roadrunners to a 1-over 865 — the 10th-best 54-hole total in program history — in the 54-hole tournament. UTSA, which set a school record with an 11-under 277 in the opening round on Monday, ended up three shots ahead of James Madison and four in front of Arkansas State while finishing three strokes behind Colorado State in the 15-team field.

After opening the event with a 3-under 69 on Monday, Carreon bounced back from a 73 with a 1-under 71 in the final round. The San Antonio native recorded four birdies over her final 18 holes and ended up with a team-best 12 for the week. Additionally, her two par-or-better scorecards give the all-conference performer 11 for her UTSA career.

Hunter Nugent finished second among the lineup, tying for 31st at 1-over 217. The junior transfer began the tournament with a school record-tying 6-under 66 before posting a 77-74—151 over the final 36 holes. She had a pair of birdies in the final round to give her 11 for the event.

Nicole Polivchak ended up with a share of 45th place after carding a 220 (71-77-72). The super senior opened with a 1-under 71 and rebounded from a 77 in the second round with an even-par 72 on Tuesday.

Hannah Holzmann was one shot back in a tie for 47th with a 221. The all-conference selection from San Antonio opened with rounds of 71 and 72 before posting a 78 in the final round.

Ana Gonzalez tied for 55th (74-74-75) to close out the Roadrunners' lineup.

In other action, Katia Mexsen and Morgan Ellison competed as individuals at the Texas State Invitational at Plum Creek Golf Club in Kyle. Ellison, a freshman from Georgia, turned in a 1-over-par scorecard on the strength of 15 pars in the final round to move into a tie for 22nd with a 228 (77-78-73). Mexsen, a senior from Mexico, tied for 39th with a 236 (81-73-82).

The Roadrunners will be back on the course next Sunday-Tuesday, Feb. 13-15, when they travel to New Orleans for the Tulane Classic.
