UTSA takes weekend trip to California

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team will be traveling to California this weekend to face UC Santa Barbara on Saturday and University of the Pacific on Sunday at the Arnhold Tennis Center.
 
UTSA (2-1) posted a 7-0 sweep over UTRGV in their second home match on Sunday and earned a win against Louisiana in their home opener on Jan. 16.
 
The Roadrunners are currently 13-5 in singles and 7-3 in doubles for 2022.
 
Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil) started his senior season with an outstanding win over the nation's 20th ranked player at Texas. On Sunday, Ceolin earned his 39th singles win in his career, tying him with Daniel Moreiras (2008-11) for sixth place for singles career wins in the history of UTSA's men's tennis. He is also on a win streak of 13 singles matches.
 
In doubles, there is also a duo who are making a mark in the history of UTSA's men's tennis.
Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile) and Garrett Skelly (The Woodlands, Texas) earned their 15th win against Louisiana. This puts them in a three-way-tie for fourth place in doubles career wins as a team, tying with Fabian Brand and Diogo Casa (2014-2016) and Yannick Junger and Pedro Zanotelli (2011-2012).
 
The Roadrunners are scheduled to play the Gauchos on Saturday at 3 p.m. and first serve against the Tigers at 12 p.m. on Sunday, both matches being held on UC Santa Barbara's homecourt.
