Roadrunners top NMSU, Seward on Saturday

EL PASO – The UTSA women's tennis team improved to 5-4 on the season after defeating New Mexico State and Seward County CC.
 
Match one: New Mexico State
The Roadrunners defeated the Aggies 4-3 in the first match of the day.
 
"I thought we came out strong winning the doubles point, which ended up being vital to our win," head coach Ki Kroll said.
 
UTSA started the match 1-0 after winning the doubles point at No. 1 and 2.
 
In singles, Keegan McCain won by default at No. 6 as the Roadrunners led 2-0. Alexandra Weir helped extend the lead as she upended her opponent 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3. Aleksandra Zlatarova clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2.
 
NMSU won the next three matches at No. 1, 4 and 5 to close out the day.
 
Match two: Seward County CC
UTSA clinched a 4-0 win over Seward County CC for match two.
 
The Roadrunners garnered the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and 3.
 
Alexandra Weir won the first singles point with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2. Sophie Omoworare followed with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat at No. 6. Closing out the match, Keegan McCain topped her opponent 6-2, 6-0.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on March 6 at Rice.
