NEW ORLEANS – The UTSA men's tennis team fell 4-0 at Tulane on Friday afternoon.
"We lost a tight match," UTSA head coach Sergey Avdeyev said. "Tulane came ready to play. They played quality tennis. We need to improve few things but overall, we played at a good level. Looking forward to bouncing back tomorrow in Baton Rouge."
UTSA (1-1) suffered the defeat at the hands of Tulane (3-0), as the Green Wave won the doubles points with victories on court 1 and 2, before claiming wins on courts 1, 5 and 6 in singles to post the victory.
The Roadrunners got a doubles win on court 3 behind Garrett Skelly (The Woodlands, Texas) and Javier Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru), 6-4.
Singles matches involving Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany), Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil) and Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile) were still in progress at the time of the clinching win on court 6 by Rafael de Alba. Reckow was facing the nation's No. 53 player, Ewan Moore, while Sebastian Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) was facing No. 40 Hamish Stewart.
UTSA will return to action at LSU at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in Baton Rouge.
