SAN ANTONIO — Jarrod Carter-McLin registered seven tackles and Robert Fuentes added six, including five for loss, to help lead the Defense (Blue) to a 37-36 victory over the Offense (White) in the eighth annual UTSA Football Fiesta Spring Game presented by HealthTexas Medical Group on Saturday at Dub Farris Athletic Complex.
Two of Carter-McLin's stops were behind the line of scrimmage, as the pair of defensive ends helped the Blue register 19 tackles for loss, including 13 sacks, for a total of 102 yards in loss and limit the White to 196 yards of offense.
Jaylon Haynes added six stops that included 3.5 TFLs, while Lorenzo Dantzler added 2.5 stops behind the line. Donovan Perkins and Morris Joseph Jr. pitched in with six tackles apiece.
Meanwhile, B.J. Daniels led the White with 78 rushing yards and a touchdown on 13 carries (6.0 avg.). The sophomore running back's score came on a 25-yard dash late in the contest when he leaped over one defender and broke another tackle on his way to paydirt.
Bryce Rivers completed six passes for 121 yards and a TD through the air, while Brandon Garza passed for 60 yards and a score on eight completions.
Marquez McNair hauled in three passes for a team-high 42 receiving yards, including a 17-yard scoring catch from Rivers early in the third quarter
Tykee Ogle-Kellogg had three receptions for 23 yards, highlighted by an acrobatic grab in the back of the end zone on a 5-yard pass from Garza late in the third stanza.
The game featured a modified scoring system with traditional points for the offense and defensive points for touchdowns (7), takeaways (3), fourth-down stops (2), safeties (2), stops (1) and sacks (1).
The 2017 seniors were honored halftime and several awards were handed out after the game.

Led by third-year head coach Frank Wilson, UTSA, which returns 10 starters and both kickers, is coming off its second straight season of being bowl eligible.
