Virginia Tech’s Andrea Barbour led all scorers with 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor, while Brittany Cook added 15 points and Amber Hall hauled in a game-high 13 rebounds. The Hokies (9-3) dominated the Roadrunners (6-3) on the glass by 27 rebounds (56-29).

Meanwhile, Onika Anderson chipped in with a career-high 11 points and a team-best six boards. Freshman Jordan Stark posted a career-high four steals on the night as the Roadrunners collected 14 steals.

VT jumped to a 7-0 lead over UTSA and would never trail the rest of the game. Back-to-back baskets by York cut the deficit to 9-4 with 16:15 to go in the first half. The Roadrunners would pull within four (18-14) of Virginia Tech when Anderson connected on a layup with 10:10 remaining. Then Hokies extended their lead 30-20 with under three minutes to go, but a pair of free throws by York made the score 34-25 at the half.

In second half action, the Hokies used a 9-4 run to pushed their lead to 45-29 with 16:22 left. A layup by Anderson pulled UTSA within 55-44 at the 11-minute mark. Virginia Tech pulled away from the Roadrunners using a 23-9 over the next eight minutes of the game to make the score 80-53. Freshman Amber Gregg ended UTSA’s scoreless drought with a made free throw with 1:57 remaining.

The Roadrunners will face Tulane on Friday at 5 p.m., in the consolation game of the 2007 Tulane Doubletree Classic.
