FRISCO — A pair of UTSA basketball games will be televised as part of the Southland TV Network television package announced Thursday by the league office.

The UTSA men’s home game against Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, Feb. 6, will be moved to a 2 p.m. tip to accommodate the television broadcast, while the women’s road contest at UT Arlington at 2 p.m. the following Saturday, Feb. 13, also will be on the 16-game television schedule. Additionally, both games will be a part of the ESPN Full Court pay-per-view package.

“We are very pleased to again announce a very attractive basketball package on the Southland Network,” league commissioner Tom Burnett said. “After televising the highest number of basketball games in conference history on the network last year, we are excited about matching that with 16 more broadcasts in 2010. Additionally, the Network provides great viewing access for the conference tournament, and many of our games will also be available to a national audience.”

The broadcast schedule features 10 men’s games and six women’s games in the second year of the network. The slate gets underway Saturday, Jan. 9, when the Stephen F. Austin men’s team visits Sam Houston State. The next week, on Jan. 16, the network will televise McNeese State at Lamar. Both of those games will tip off at 2 p.m.

On Jan. 23, the Nicholls and Northwestern State men and women will play a doubleheader in Natchitoches, La. Both games will be televised. The women’s game will begin at 2 p.m. and the men’s game will follow at 4:30 p.m. UT Arlington and Texas State close out the month of January with a 2 p.m. tipoff on Jan. 30 in San Marcos, Texas.

After the back-to-back UTSA broadcasts, the men’s team from UT Arlington will travel to Conway, Ark., for a 2 p.m. game at Central Arkansas on Saturday, Feb. 20. The men’s teams from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Stephen F. Austin close out the month with a Feb. 27 date in Nacogdoches, Texas.

As the race for the conference tournament heats up in March, so, too, does the Network schedule. A women’s wild card game will be televised on Wednesday, March 3, and a men’s wild card game will be televised on Saturday, March 6, the final day of the regular season. Those matchups will be announced in late February.

Then comes the 2010 State Farm Southland Conference Basketball Tournament in Katy, Texas, when the Network will televise five games, including both men’s and women’s semifinal games on Thursday, March 11, as well as the women’s championship game on March 12. The men’s championship game will be televised by ESPN2 on Saturday, March 13.

ESPN Full Court will pick up at least five of the Southland TV games for inclusion on its pay-per-view broadcast package and will simulcast those games on espn360.com. More games could be added to the Full Court package at a later date.

Additionally, all 16 games on the Southland TV Network will be streamed live for free on SLC NOW, the live and on-demand audio and video portal on southland.org, the official Web site of the Southland Conference.
