Bond places seventh in triple jump at CAC Games

MAYAGUEZ, Puerto Rico — Senior-to-be Devon Bond capped off an outstanding first season as a Roadrunner on Thursday evening with a seventh-place finish in the triple jump at the 21st Annual Central American and Caribbean Games.

Representing his native Guyana, the Trenton, N.J., native skipped to a 51-11 (15.82m) measurement in his second of six jumps at Mayaguez Central American Stadium. Bahamian Leevan Sands won the event in his sixth and final attempt, recording a leap of 56-5 ¾ (17.21m) to edge runner-up Randy Lewis of Grenada by a mere half inch (56-5 ¼/17.20m). Haiti's Samyr Laine earned the bronze medal with his jump of 55-9 ¾ (17.01m).
