AUSTIN — Senior Jessica Jones advanced in the 100-meter hurdles on Friday eveining at the NCAA Championships Preliminary Rounds, but redshirt junior Dana Mecke's quest for a spot in next month's national meet 800m semifinals came to an end at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Jones moved into the quarterfinals with her time of 13.69 in the fourth heat. The three-time Southland Conference Champion will run in the first of three quarterfinals at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Mecke missed out on her chance to advance to Eugene, Ore., but it wasn't due to lack of effort. The Bulverde native ran a 2:07.44 (17th place) for her third consecutive personal record in the event and that was the second-best performance in school history. The string of career bests began with her Southland Conference on May 16 (2:08.36) and continued on Thursday night in the opening round (2:08.14).

The three-day meet concludes on Saturday.
