Diaz leads Roadrunners at Notre Dame Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Racing for the first time this fall, Alyssa Diaz paced UTSA at Friday's Notre Dame Invitational.

The senior from Hereford covered the 5,000-meter course in 17:56.4 and crossed the finish line in 48th place. Nina Herrera (68th/18:10.5), Emily Perez (89th/18:23.3), Samantha Fish (111th/18:34.8) and Isabel Balbontin (117th/18:39.7) rounded out the squad's scorers.

The Roadrunners finished 19th in the 24-team blue division race with 428 points. No. 2 Florida State won the team championship with 77 points and Duke's Juliet Bottorff won the individual title in 16:43.8.

UTSA will return to action next Saturday, Oct. 12, at the UIW Cardinals Invitational.
