SAN ANTONIO — Carly Kitts was named Southland Conference Freshman of the Year, the league office announced on Thursday.
Kitts is coming off a 16th-place performance at Monday's Southland Championships, which was the top showing by a league frosh. The Midlothian native, who finished the 6,000-meter race in 22:11.4, is the first Roadrunner to earn the league's award for freshmen.
She also helped UTSA win three consecutive meets in September by finishing in the top 10 at the TLU Preview (fifth), Ricardo Romo/Six Flags Fiesta Texas/H-E-B Classic (sixth) and Southland Pre-Conference (ninth).
UTSA will return to action next Saturday, Nov. 12, when it travels to Waco for the NCAA South Central Regional.
