Herrera leads Roadrunners at Indiana State Pre-National Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Nina Herrera helped lead UTSA to a 21st-place finish at Saturday's Indiana State Pre-National Invitational.

The senior from El Paso covered the 6,000-meter LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country course in 21:14.47 en route to a 70th-place showing.

Alyssa Diaz was one spot back in 71st (21:15.16), while Emily Perez (100th/21:28.13), Samantha Fish (164th/21:52.07) and Stephanie Wangui (293rd/22:52.69) rounded out the Roadrunners' scorers.

Georgetown won the team title with 117 points and Boise State's Emma Bates was the individual champion following her 20:09.09 performance. The Roadrunners finished in front of Lamar (29th) and Baylor (31st), the fifth and seventh-ranked teams in South Central Region, as well as Tulsa (34th), which is the defending Conference USA Champion.

UTSA will be back in action in two weeks at the Conference USA Championships.
