HOUSTON — Senior All-Americans Tyler Williamson and Richard Garrett Jr. both registered victories on Saturday to lead UTSA at this weekend's Howie Ryan Invitational & Multis.

Williamson won the long jump with a season-best measurement of 23-10 ¼ (7.27m), which was three-quarters of an inch better than North Texas' Terrance Williams. A two-and-a-half foot improvement from last Friday's mark at the Leonard Hilton Memorial, it vaulted him to the top of the Western Athletic Conference leaderboard. The Houston native now has won four meets in his specialty event during his career.

Meanwhile, Garrett Jr. established a new personal-record in winning the weight throw by an inch. The Garland native tossed the implement 60-2 (18.34m) in his third attempt of the day, which was good enough for the first gold medal of his career in the event. That added more than three feet to his previous PR set a year ago.

The Roadrunners' other victory at the two-meet came from senior Darryl Wyrick, who won the B section of the 400 meter dash on Friday night in 51.05.

UTSA returns to action next weekend at the Armony Collegiate Invitational in New York City. The two-day meet is scheduled to get underway on Friday, Feb. 1.
