SAN ANTONIO —
The UTSA women's cross country squad will begin the postseason on Saturday
morning when it competes at the Western Athletics Conference (WAC)
Championships in Ruston, La. The 5,000-meter race is scheduled to begin
at 9 a.m. at Lincoln Parish Park.
The Roadrunners were picked to finish fourth in Monday's WAC
Pre-Championship Coaches Poll that was released by the league office. Two-time defending champion Idaho topped the
poll and the Vandals were followed by New Mexico State, Utah State, UTSA, UT Arlington, Seattle, San Jose State, Texas State and Louisiana Tech.
The
Roadrunners, who did not compete last weekend, are coming off a top-10 showing two weeks ago at the prestigious Chile Pepper Festival. Junior Alyssa Diaz raced to a 21st-place
finish after covering the Agri Park 6,000-meter
trail in 21:51.9 in the field of 341 runners. She paced the Roadrunners for
the fourth consecutive meet.
