UTSA women place second at Saturday's Grass Routes Grand Prix
AUSTIN — UTSA saw its three-meet winning streak come to an end with a runner-up performance at Saturday's Grass Routes Grand Prix.
Junior Alyssa Diaz, the two-time reigning Western Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week, led the Roadrunners with a sixth-place performance. The Hereford native circled the 5,000-meter Hancock Golf Course trail in 18:55.08 to finish as the squad's top performer for the third consecutive outing.
Freshman Emily Perez (19:06.01/eighth), juniors Samantha Fish (19:23.11/12th) and Nina Herrera (19:31.89/16th) and sophomore Carly Kitts (19:44.54/18th) rounded out UTSA's scorers.
Texas easily won the team title with 18 points, while the Roadrunners netted 55. Sam Houston State (77) and Houston (96) filled out the remaining two spots on the team leaderboard.
UTSA will return to the course in two weeks at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.
