UTSA to compete at Western Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday
SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's cross country team will begin the postseason on Saturday morning when it competes at the Western Athletics Conference (WAC) Championships in Ruston, La. The 8,000-meter race is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at Lincoln Parish Park.
The Roadrunners were picked to finish sixth in Monday's WAC Pre-Championship Coaches Poll that was released by the league office. Utah State, winners of six of the past seven championships, topped the poll and the Aggies were followed by New Mexico State, Seattle, Idaho, UT Arlington, UTSA, San Jose State, Texas State and Louisiana Tech.
The Roadrunners, who did not compete last weekend, saw their three-meet winning streak come to an end two weeks ago with a 12th-place finish at the prestigious Chile Pepper Fesitval in Fayetteville, Ark. Sophomore Mike Medrano paced UTSA for the fifth consecutive meet after navigating the Agri Park 10,000-meter loop in 32:03.3, which was good for 44th place in the field of 313 runners.
