FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Senior Albert Cardenas raced to a 14th-place finish and UTSA's strong season continued on Saturday at the 23rd annual Chile Pepper Festival.

Cardenas led the Roadrunners for the second consecutive meet after circling the Agri Park 10,000-meter loop in 30:09.1. His performance helped lead UTSA to an eighth-place finish in the 32-team field.

Fellow senior Cole Reveal placed 23rd in 30:20.1 and other Roadrunners scorers included junior Daniel Balbontin (60th/31:09.2), redshirt freshman Mike Medrano (78th/31:27.6) and senior Brandon Chiuminetta (80th/31:32.1).

UTSA accounted for 209 points en route to its second consecutive top-10 finish at a prestigious national meet. Top-ranked Oklahoma State scored 25 and easily won the team title on the strength of five runners placing in the top nine. No. 15 Arkansas (78) and third-ranked Oklahoma (161) rounded out the top three. Meanwhile, Southern Utah's Cam Levins won the individual crown in 29:13.8.

The Roadrunners will be back in action on Oct. 31 when they travel to Nacogdoches for the Southland Conference Championships.
