UTSA men to compete at Conference USA Championships on Saturday
SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will begin the postseason on Saturday morning when it competes at the Conference USA Championships in Denton. The 8,000-meter race is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
North Texas will host the first championship meet of the newly-realigned league when it welcomes 13 teams to Eagle Point Cross Country Course. Three-time defending champion Tulsa will look to become the team in C-USA history to win four consecutive titles.
The Roadrunners have won eight league crowns in program history. UTSA captured five consecutive Trans America Athletic Conference championships from 1986-90 and later won three straight Southland titles from 1995-97. UTSA finished sixth in its first and only apearance at the Western Athletic Conference Championships a year ago.
Mike Medrano's third-place performance helped lead the Roadrunners to the UIW Cardinals Invitational team crown in their last outing on Oct. 12. The junior from Mission circled the 8,000-meter Live Oak City Park loop in 26:13.98 and was the team's top finisher for the fourth consecutive meet.
