ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Sophomore Mike Medrano was tabbed Western Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Medrano helped the Roadrunners successfully defend their UTSA Ricardo Romo Classic title on Friday with his second individual victory in as many weeks. He tackled the water-logged 5,000-meter course in 15:31.7 and easily defeated junior teammate Kyle Hawley by nearly 19 seconds (15:50.1).

UTSA saw six of its runners place in the top seven en route to a 39-point triumph in the team standings.

The Roadrunners return to action next Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Grass Routes Grand Prix in Austin.
