Dear Roadrunners …

I want to personally thank you on behalf of UTSA Football. We owe much of our success to you because of all the support you have given us.

Since the season-ending victory against Texas State, our staff has been focused primarily on recruiting. We’re extremely encouraged by what should be an outstanding National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 6. As soon as this year’s recruiting class is complete, we’ll be back on the road visiting with you.

Beginning at 6 p.m. on National Signing Day, we’ll be at the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures for the Fourth Annual Football National Signing Day Celebration. On Thursday, Feb. 7, we’ll be at the Falls City Community Center for a 6 p.m. gathering as the first stop on the second annual Roadrunners Road Trip. This is an opportunity to get to know our staff and several student-athletes and purchase season tickets.

In March and April, we plan to move two Saturday scrimmages during spring practice to area high schools. We are exploring several options in order to expose different parts of San Antonio to UTSA Football and hopefully engage new season ticket holders. At 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, we will play our UTSA Football Fiesta Spring Game presented by Health Texas at Dub Farris Stadium due to a scheduling conflict with Disney on Ice at the Alamodome. You will receive details on the entire spring schedule in future UTSA Athletics Department newsletters.

On Tuesday, April 23, we will host the Larry Coker Golf Tournament at the TPC San Antonio Golf Club. For foursome and individual participant information, please call UTSA Athletics at (210) 458-6333. In May and June, we will be visiting Austin and the Greater Houston area for the final two stops on the Roadrunners Road Trip. We’re looking for civic clubs and other large gatherings where we might be welcome to talk UTSA Football. Please call (210) 458-4909 if you have a suggested stop in either city.

When a Roadrunners Road Trip event is near you, we encourage you to invite five friends, neighbors or business associates to attend with you. DOCUmation is inviting its customers to the National Signing Day Celebration. A friend of the program, Carrol Lake, has purchased 200 tickets to the Falls City event and is distributing them to his business associates in the petroleum industry. If you get them there, we’ll do everything possible to convince them to become football season ticket holders.

We have an outstanding product to sell. We now know that our Conference USA home schedule will include Rice (Oct. 12), UAB (Oct. 26), Tulane (Nov. 9) and Louisiana Tech (Nov. 30). We also have Oklahoma State (Sept. 7) and Houston (Sept. 28) on our non-conference home schedule. That’s an outstanding lineup of home games.

With eight wins in 2012 and 18 returning starters, we’re looking forward to the first season in C-USA. You have been tremendous in our first two seasons helping us set national attendance records in our inaugural season and average nearly 30,000 per game last fall. Now it’s time to take the next step.

Thank you once again for your support of UTSA Football. We’re looking forward to seeing you in the next few months on our Roadrunners Road Trips. And, of course, we’re looking forward to seeing you at the Alamodome for the 2013 home opener against Oklahoma State. If you have not purchased your 2013 season tickets, there’s no better time than right now to call (210) 458-UTSA (8872) and do so.

See you on the road.

Go ‘Runners!

Sincerely,

Larry Coker
Head Football Coach
