Tijerina named Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Vivian Tijerina was named Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Tijerina went 5-for-8 (.625) with a double and three RBIs over the weekend to help the Roadrunners to their first sweep of Texas State since 2004 and first in San Marcos since 1996. She also posted a .750 slugging percentage and .700 on-base percentage.
With a hit in all three contests, the Atascosa native extended her hitting streak to seven games. Tijerina went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in two runs in game two of the series before recording a pair of hits and an RBI in the finale. She now has six multi-hit games on the campaign and is tied for the team lead with six multi-RBI games.
This is the second time a UTSA player has earned the weekly honor, as Siera Sproul took the award on March 11.
The Roadrunners (18-12, 3-0 WAC) will be back in action at 6 p.m. on Friday when they host San Jose State (22-10, 3-0 WAC) at Roadrunner Field.
