SAN ANTONIO — Jamise Jackson's walk-off infield single in the seventh gave sixth-seeded Texas A&M-Corpus Christi a 2-1 come-from-behind victory against No. 4 UTSA on Saturday in the first elimination game of this weekend's Southland Conference Tournament at Roadrunner Field.

Freshman Megan Low went 2-for-3 and drove in the only run for the Roadrunners (24-28), who saw their season come to an end with the loss.

Meanwhile, Hannah Schwarz was a perfect 3-for-3 and she came home with the winning run for the Islanders (18-22), who will play another elimination tilt at 7 p.m. this evening against No. 2 seed Sam Houston State (27-20).

UTSA took a 1-0 lead in the third on Low’s single that plated senior Laura Little, who started the frame with a base hit up the middle.

Low started the sixth with another knock up the middle, which chased Islanders starter Vianca Pesina, but reliever Greta Cecchetti retired the side after the Roadrunners put pinch runner Siera Sproul in scoring position.

Cassie Redman’s two-out single started the decisive rally, which saw Texas A&M-Corpus Christi twice come down to its last strike. UTSA reliever Alyssa Vordenbaum struck out the first two batters of the stanza before Redman and Schwarz reached with base hits. An error by sophomore shortstop Molly Fichtner loaded the bases for Lauren Phillips, who tied the contest when she was hit by a pitch. Jackson followed with a bloop hit behind the pitcher’s circle to plate the winning run.

Cecchetti (11-7) and gave up just one hit in two innings out of the Islanders bullpen, while Vordenbaum (4-11) gave up two unearned runs on four hits and struck out five in 4.1 innings in relief of junior starter Haylee Staton.

Senior Caitlyn Ivy finished the tournament with a .500 (4-for-8) batting average with a home run and a pair of RBIs en route to All-Tournament Team honors.
