SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will wrap up the non-conference portion of its schedule when it hosts Houston in a 5:30 p.m. contest on Tuesday at Roadrunner Field.

The Roadrunners (21-25) secured a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament with Saturday's 11-3 victory against Nicholls. UTSA hit three home runs, pounded out 14 hits and scored in each inning except the second in the six-inning run-rule triumph. Seniors Nikki Goff and Alaina Byars added to their Senior Day with round-trippers, while freshman Courtney Buchman hit her first homer of the season. Goff also tied a career-high with four RBIs and junior Samantha Beeson set a new career-best with three hits.

Freshman Megan Low has her batting average up to .387, which ranks just behind Sam Houston State’s Kim Damian (.388) for the conference lead. Low and Goff share the team lead with five homers and the pair has driven in 27 and 25 runs, respectively. Junior Haylee Staton continues to lead the pitching staff with a 13-6 record and 2.58 ERA. The Austin native has posted double-digit strikeouts four times this season, including an 11-strikeout performance in each of the last two weekends.

The Cougars (29-21) are coming off three consecutive losses at UCF over the weekend. Holly Anderson leads the team, which sports a .308 batting average, with a .364 mark and 39 runs scored. Haley Outon provides the power in the lineup with 16 homers and 49 RBIs. Bailey Watts owns an 11-8 record and 2.44 ERA in the circle, while Diedre Outon has a 10-6 mark and 3.08 ERA. Houston has 96 stolen bases and held its opponents to just 21 steals in 28 attempts.

The Cougars lead the all-time series, 8-5, and have won the last three meetings. The last contest between the two squads came on Feb. 19, 2010, when UH took a 13-3 decision at the Marriott Houston Invitational.
