SAN ANTONIO — UTSA (27-25) will open the Southland Conference Tournament play at 11 a.m. on Thursday against No. 4 seed and defending tournament champion McNeese State (29-27).
The fifth-seeded Roadrunners will be in search of their third tournament title and NCAA Tournament appearance when they hit the field at the Bearkats Softball Complex in Huntsville. UTSA is 19-19 all-time in tournament action and owns a 15-10 record in tournament games against this year’s field.
The Cowgirls took three of the five meetings this season between the two squads. UTSA defeated the Cowgirls in the second game of the season-opening Getterman Classic in Waco. McNeese went on to win the tournament finale and the first two contests of a three-game set in Lake Charles before the Roadrunners took the final game, 3-0.
