SAN ANTONIO — Winners of eight of its last nine games, UTSA will travel to Austin for a 6:30 p.m. contest on Tuesday at No. 3 Texas. The tilt will be the Roadrunners' final non-conference game of the spring.
UTSA (25-23) won its sixth consecutive Southland Conference outing and eighth home contest in a row with a sweep of Nicholls at Roadrunner Field last weekend.
Freshman Jori Fox went 6-for-13 (.462) with three home runs, four RBIs and five runs scored and was named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week on Monday.
Senior Emily Humpal picked up a win in the series finale and tied a career high with four RBIs on a grand slam. All told, the Birds hit seven homers in the three-game set. The Roadrunners raised their team batting average to .282, the second best mark in the conference, while increasing their league-leading home run total to 43.
The Longhorns (41-4) pace the Big 12 with a 1.18 ERA and are second with a .351 batting average. Five hitters rank in the conference's top 15, led by Lexy Bennett's .455 average. The junior leads the league with a .527 on-base percentage and paces the squad in doubles (11), triples (4), RBIs (40), slugging percentage (.829) and total bases (102).
Blaire Luna sports a conference-best 24-2 record to go along with a 0.95 ERA and 256 strikeouts in the circle. She also leads the conference with 13 shutouts and a .141 opponent batting average.
Texas leads the all-time series 31-4-1 and has taken the last six meetings. Four of the six contests have been decided by one run, including three games last season.
