FRISCO — Junior Caitlyn Ivy was named Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Ivy went 8-for-17 (.471) with two home runs and nine RBIs last week to
lead UTSA to a perfect 5-0 record. She also tallied an .824 slugging percentage on the strength of 14 total bases.
The Hunington native started the week hot, going 5-for-8 with five RBIs in a Wedesnday's doubelheader sweep at Houston Baptist. Her two-run homer late in game one was the game-winner and her two RBIs in the nightcap led the Roadrunners to a 3-0 victory.
Ivy then had a season-high four RBIs in the second game of last weekend's series with Central Arkansas. She capped that performance with a three-run bomb in the sixth to give UTSA a come-from-behind 7-5 triumph.
Ivy is the second Roadrunner to be named Southland Hitter of the Week this spring. Freshman Molly Fichtner earned the season's first honor on Feb. 15.
UTSA (22-22) returns to the diamond on Wednesday at No. 15 Baylor (34-8). First pitch in the second meeting between the two teams this year is slated for 6 p.m. at Getterman Stadium.
