SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will resume Conference USA play this weekend when it hosts Charlotte in a three-game series at Roadrunner Field. The Roadrunners and 49ers will square off in a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday before concluding the series with a noon contest the following day.

UTSA (17-19, 5-4 C-USA) will enter the weekend tied for fifth place along with FIU in the C-USA standings. The squad just concluded a stretch where it played 10 of its last 13 on the road and now will close the regular season with 12 of its final 18 games at home.

In Wednesday’s win at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Fox drove in three runs, while Kacy Freeze picked up her staff-leading 10th victory in the circle. The lefty owns 92 strikeouts on the season to go along with a 3.59 ERA.

Charlotte (13-15, 4-7 C-USA) has won three consecutive games, including a 4-3 victory against North Carolina on Wednesday. The 49ers, who boast a .299 team batting average, will look to improve on their 3-7 mark away from home. The junior leads the team with seven homers, while Jessica Plemmons (.341) has a team-best 26 RBIs. The pitching staff is led by Lexi Betancourt, who is 12-8 with a 2.33 ERA and 134 strikeouts.

This weekend will mark the first all-time meetings between the two programs.

A silent auction will start at 1 p.m. with several autographed items and a luxury suite for the UTSA football game against New Mexico (Oct. 4) at the Alamodome up for bid.
