SAN ANTONIO — Coming off a 4-3 week that included a pair of wins at the Texas A&M Invitational, UTSA will wrap up a six-game road trip on Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. contest at Houston.

The Roadrunners (8-7) opened and closed last weekend's Texas A&M Invitational with wins to finish 2-3 at the four-team tournament. UTSA shut out North Texas twice on Feb. 20 and blanked Southeastern Louisiana in the first game of the Texas A&M Invitational, to log three consecutive shutouts for the first time since 2009, before Sunday's 2-1 triumph against Purdue.

Haylee Staton anchored the pitching staff with three wins during the week and allowed just one run in 26.2 innings, which translated to an ERA of 0.26. The Austin native tossed 20 straight scoreless frames until allowing a first-inning run against the Boilermakers on Sunday. In all, she limited opponents to a .165 batting average and notched 20 strikeouts, including a season-high eight against the Mean Green. Her 1.58 ERA ranks second in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), while her five wins are third.

Meanwhile, Megan Low leads the team and ranks fifth in the circuit with a .432 batting average and her .865 slugging percentage tops the league. The Spring native hit .400 last week (6-for-15) with a pair of home runs and six RBIs. The Birds are third in the WAC with a .297 team batting average and 32 extra-base hits.

The Cougars (7-4) will host Houston Baptist on Tuesday night before welcoming the Roadrunners to town on Wednesday. Houston owns victories against DePaul, Illinois, Lipscomb and Texas State during its two home tournaments to start the season.

Holly Anderson leads the team with a .429 average, while Haley Outon paces the Cougars with three homers and 11 RBIs. Bailey Watts has seen the most time in the circle and is 3-1 with a 1.89 ERA. Watts has 23 strikeouts in 29.2 innings and opposing hitters are batting .207 against her.

Houston leads the all-time series, 9-5, including a 10-0, five-inning win in the last meeting on May 1, 2012. The Roadrunners are 2-5 against the Cougars in the Bayou City.
