SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will close out the regular season and look to secure a berth into next week’s Conference USA Tournament when it travels to Tulsa on Thursday for a 7 p.m. match.

The Roadrunners (5-11-2, 4-3-2 C-USA) can lock up a spot in their first-ever C-USA Tournament with a win or tie against the Golden Hurricane. UTSA wrapped up its first season at the new Park West Athletics Complex last Sunday with a 2-0 victory against Louisiana Tech. The shutout was the Birds’ sixth of the season and fifth during league action. The squad closed out its home slate by shutting out its opponents over the last 480 minutes of play. No C-USA team scored against UTSA in the Alamo City this fall and the last goal surrendered by the Roadrunners at home came on Sept. 8 against Samford.

Anissa Munson and Taylor Wingerden lead UTSA with seven points apiece. Munson is tied with Happy Orere-Amadu for the team-lead with three goals to go along with an assist, while Wingerden owns a pair of goals and team-leading three helpers. With Sunday’s win, goalie Bubba Makela lowered her goals-against average to 0.96 against conference foes, while her five shutouts during league action are tied for tops in the circuit.

Tulsa (9-6-3, 3-3-3 C-USA) must win on Thursday to qualify for the C-USA Tournament. The Golden Hurricane currently is riding a five-match winless streak with its last victory coming on Oct. 6 at Rice. Tulsa had dropped three consecutive matches before a pair of ties last weekend. Bradi Hinch leads the team with 12 points on six goals, while Jordan O’Brien’s six assists are tops on the squad. Goalkeeper Hayley Harryman has played all but 19 minutes this season and owns a 0.81 goals-against average. She has given up nine of her season total of 15 goals during Tulsa’s five-match winless streak.

Thursday will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
