SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will look for its first wins away from the Alamo City this weekend when it travels east for matches at Sam Houston State and Houston. The Roadrunners will take on the Bearkats at 7 p.m. on Friday before a 1 p.m. matchup against the Cougars two days later.

UTSA (1-5) will attempt to snap a two-game losing skid after dropping the final match of the UTSA Classic to Kent State on Sept. 2 before a 4-0 setback to Baylor last Sunday.

Freshman goalkeeper Katarina Pus recorded a season-high nine saves against the Bears and the Sentvid, Slovenia, native leads the Western Athletic Conference with 5.33 stops per contest.  Offensively, sophomore Liv Nyhegn leads the team with 14 shots, while senior Lindsay South, junior Maria Jose Rojas and freshman Simone Boye have three points apiece.

Picked by Southland Conference head coaches and sports information directors to finish fourth in the league this season, Sam Houston State enters the weekend with a 3-5 record. The Bearkats have dropped three of their last four matches and either shut out their opponent or been shut out in each contest this season. In fact, all of Sam Houston's victories this fall have been by a score of 1-0 and the Bearkats only have allowed two goals once (Sept. 2 vs. #16 Rutgers). Junior Tricia Mallory leads the team with a pair of goals, while freshman goalkeeper Kylie Hambleton has recorded a pair of shutouts and 29 saves on the season.

Houston will enter Sunday’s match with a 3-4 record that includes wins against Houston Baptist, Louisiana-Lafayette and Arizona State. Predicted to finish 10th in Conference USA, the Cougars are led by junior Jasmine Martinez, who is tied for third in the league with four goals in six contests. Sophomore Kayla Walker has a pair of winners and an assist, while junior goalie Cami Koski has started all but one match and owns 31 stops.

The Roadrunners lead the all-time series with Sam Houston State, 6-2, including a 2-0 victory in their last meeting on Oct. 2, 2011. Meanwhile, Houston holds a 3-2 edge against UTSA, which includes a 3-1 win on Sept. 19, 2010.
