SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Sunday when it hosts Baylor at the Rec Sports Complex.
The Roadrunners (1-4) are coming off a 4-1 loss to Kent State last Sunday in the final match of the UTSA Classic. Senior Lindsay South, junior Maria Jose Rojas and freshman Simone Boye lead the squad with three points apiece on a goal and an assist. South scored her first goal of the season against the Golden Flashes, while senior Amanda Ortegon and Rojas notched winners in UTSA’s victory against Eastern Michigan on Aug. 31. Freshman goalkeeper Katarina Pus has started every match between the pipes and averages 4.6 saves per contest.
The Bears (5-1-1) will play their second road match of the week after battling North Texas to a scoreless tie on Friday night. Picked to finish third in the Big 12 this fall, Baylor owns wins against Cal State Northridge, McNeese State, Nebraska, Northwestern State and Rice, while its lone loss came at Long Beach State. Dana Larsen and Kat Ludlow pace the Bears with seven points (three goals/one assist) each, while Michelle Kloss has allowed just three goals in seven starts.
Baylor leads the all-time series 4-0-1, including a 4-0 victory in the last meeting on Sept. 3, 2010, in Waco.
