Baylor blanks UTSA on Sunday night, 4-0
SAN ANTONIO — Baylor broke a scoreless tie at the half with four goals in the second period and the Bears walked away with a 4-0 victory against UTSA on Sunday night at the Rec Sports Complex.
The Roadrunners (1-5) defense held tight for the first 45 minutes, as freshman goalkeeper Katarina Pus made three of her season-high nine stops in the stanza.
However, the Bears (6-1-1) scored just 28 seconds into the second half and did not look back en route to their fourth consecutive shutout.
Karlee Summey recorded an assist on Baylor’s first two goals with a helper to Dana Larsen in the 46th minute and a pass to Kat Ludlow nearly 10 minutes later.
Hanna Gilmore and Katie Daigle added goals in the 78th and 79th minutes, respectively, to complete the scoring.
UTSA will look for its first road victory of the season at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, when it travels to Huntsville for a matchup with former Southland Conference foe Sam Houston State (3-5).
