SAN ANTONIO — Sophomore forward Maria Jose Rojas recently completed play with the Chilean National Team at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Rojas helped lead her native country to a 1-1-1 record at the event. The Santiago native started all three matches, played all but eight minutes and recorded a goal in the team's 3-0 victory against Trinidad and Tobago on Oct. 22.
The squad opened the tournament with a scoreless draw against host and heavy favorite Mexico on Oct. 18 before falling 1-0 against Colombia two days later.
It marked second time this year that she has represented her native country in an international event.
Back in February, Rojas and fellow sophomore Valentina Lefort suited up at the Algarve Cup in Portugal.
Rojas, who has scored six goals and accounted for 16 points this season (both second on the team), will be back in action with the Roadrunners for the remainder of the season.
Having already clinched a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament, UTSA will close the regular season this weekend with matches at Nicholls (Oct. 28) and Southeastern Louisiana (Oct. 30).
