SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will close out the home portion of its 2011 schedule with Lamar and McNeese State this weekend at the Recreational Sports Complex. Kickoff between the Roadrunners and Lady Cardinals is set for 7 p.m. on Friday and UTSA will face the Cowgirls at 1 p.m. two days later.

The Roadrunners (6-7-1, 3-2 SLC) will honor seniors Katie Dugan, Jodi Leroy, Taylor Padia and Brittany Wilson prior to Friday’s match as part of their Senior Night festivities.

UTSA enters the weekend after road wins last week at Central Arkansas and Northwestern State. The Birds outscored their opponents 5-1 on the trip and seven players recorded either a goal or an assist. Freshman Liv Nyhegn scored just 23 seconds into Sunday’s match against the Lady Demons to tie the school-record for the quickest goal in program history.

Sophomore Danielle Snyder turned in another stellar performance in net and was named Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season. The Buda native did not allow a goal and recorded six saves in 176 minutes of action while improving to 4-0-1 with her second shutout of the season against Northwestern State.

Lamar (7-6-1, 4-1 SLC) already has set school records for overall victories and conference wins in a season and is a perfect 3-0 on the road in Southland matches this fall. Kristin Bos leads the attack with 15 points on five goals and five assists, while Jennifer Gibbs has played every minute in goal for the Lady Cardinals. In addition, the Lamar defense has allowed just two goals in conference action.

McNeese State (7-8, 2-3 SLC) dropped a pair of home matches last weekend against Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State. The Cowgirls were shut out in both contests by scores of 5-0 and 1-0, respectively. Johna Germany and Sarah Lalanne pace the squad with five goals each. Lalanne also leads the team with four assists and 14 points.

The Roadrunners are a perfect 5-0 all-time against Lamar, including a 1-0 win in the first round last year’s Southland Tournament. Meanwhile, McNeese State holds a 4-2-1 advantage after the two teams battled to a 1-1 tie on Oct. 15 last fall.
