NACOGDOCHES — A pair of goals in the first five minutes proved to be too much for the UTSA women’s soccer team to overcome and the Roadrunners dropped their regular season finale by a score of 2-0 at Stephen F. Austin on Sunday.

Jordan King’s eighth goal of the season, a header off a corner kick, put the Ladyjacks (13-5-1, 6-2-1 SLC) on the board in the fifth minute. Thirty-six seconds later, Kim Kimmel played the ball ahead to Laura Sadler, who beat Webb for her seventh goal of the fall, giving SFA a commanding 2-0 advantage with 40:09 remaining in the half.

UTSA (11-7-1, 6-2-1 SLC) shut out the Ladyjacks from there despite 10 shots, but Stephen F. Austin was able to return the favor. It was just the third time the Birds were kept off the scoreboard this season.

The loss dashed the Roadrunners’ chances at their first-ever Southland Conference Championship. Southeastern Louisiana (7-1-1 SLC) defeated Northwestern State, 3-0, on Sunday to win the league's regular-season title.

UTSA will enter next weekend's Southland Tournament as the No. 3 seed and play sixth-seeded Lamar (5-10-3, 3-4-2 SLC) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4, in San Marcos. The Roadrunners handed the Lady Cardinals a 1-0 setback in double overtime two weeks ago in Beaumont.
