SAN ANTONIO — With the Southland Conference Regular Season Championship still up for grabs, the UTSA women's soccer team will close out the regular season at Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin this weekend.

The Roadrunners (10-6-1, 5-1-1 SLC) will face the Bearkats at 7 p.m. on Friday before traveling to Nacogdoges to take on the Ladyjacks at 1 p.m. two days later.

Wins would not only help solidify a high seed for next week's Southland Tournament, but they also would rewrite the program's record book. The Birds need just one victory to break the school record set by the 2008 team, while a pair of trimuphs would set a new mark for conference wins (6 by 2007 and '08 squads).

UTSA's offense continues to rank as one of the best in the Southland, topping the charts in five offensive categories including points (122), goals (40), goals per game (2.35), assists (42) and assists per game (2.47). Freshman Laylla da Cruz leads the squad with 15 points, a total that includes five goals and five assists.

Sam Houston State (9-8-1) enters Friday's match just behind UTSA in the conference standings at 5-2. The Bearkats own a 6-1 home record with their only loss coming on Sept. 17 against Baylor. Tricia Mallory's 24 points on 10 goals and four assists lead an offense that ranks fifth in the conference at 1.67 goals per contest.

Stephen F. Austin enters the weekend with a 11-5-1 overall record, including a 4-2-1 mark in Southland play. The Ladyjacks also sport a 6-1 home record, where they have not lost since Sept. 3.

Jordan King, Kim Kimmel and Lylie Louw each rank in the conference's top 10 in points and goals. The trio has helped Stephen F. Austin rank among the Southland's top three in shots (275), points (104), goals (38), goals per game (2.24), assists (28) and assists per game (1.65).

UTSA never has lost in Huntsville or Nacogdoches, owning a combined 4-0 record.

The Roadrunners lead the all-time series with the Bearkats, 4-2, despite dropping a 3-2 double-overtime game last season at the Southland Tournament. UTSA holds a slim 2-1-2 edge in the all-time series with Ladyjacks after the teams tied 1-1 in their last meeting on Oct. 25, 2009.
