LAKE CHARLES, La. — After more than 88 minutes of a defensive struggle, both UTSA and McNeese State scored in the final two minutes of regulation and battled to a 1-1 tie on Friday night.

The Roadrunners (8-5-1, 3-0-1 SLC) appeared headed for their first-ever road win against the Cowgirls when freshman Laylla da Cruz beat McNeese goalie Katie Seeber for her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 89th minute.

However, Callie Albright set up Hallie Hopson for the equalizer a mere 68 seconds later to force extra time.

UTSA out-shot McNeese State 8-0 in the two overtime periods, but the Roadrunners could not find the back of the net.

The Birds out-shot the Cowgirls (4-9-2, 1-2-2 SLC) on the night, 22-15 and the defense kept McNeese away from sophomore goal keeper Dacia Webb for most of the game, limiting it to just six shots on goal.

The Roadrunners conclude the weekend road trip at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Lamar (4-8-2, 2-2-1 SLC).
