DENTON — Kauwela Neal and Taylor Wingerden scored a goal apiece for UTSA, but North Texas broke a 2-2 deadlock with a pair of late goals in a 4-2 victory on Friday night.

Neal answered an early goal by the Mean Green (8-5-1, 2-2-1 C-USA) when she reached the back of the net on a header off a free kick by Charlotte Husoe at the 39:03 mark of the first half.

The two teams went to halftime tied at one, but North Texas took a 2-1 advantage in the 61st minutes when Amber Haggerty followed a deflection off a save by UTSA goalkeeper Bubba Makela.

The Roadrunners (3-10-1, 2-2-1 C-USA) were awarded a penalty kick less than a minute later and Wingerden converted the scoring opportunity with her second goal of the season to knot the score at two.

The match remained tied for 17 more minutes until the Mean Green, who out shot UTSA by a 24-10 count, went up for good on an unasssisted winner by Kelsey Hodges with a little more than 10 minutes remaining.

Anna Flobeck iced the match with a goal in the 82nd minute to make it 4-2.

UTSA will return home to host Southern Mississippi (6-4-4, 0-2-2 C-USA) at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18.
