Roadrunners to face North Texas on Friday night
SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will conclude a three-match road trip on Friday night when it travels to Denton to take on North Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Roadrunners (3-9-1, 2-1-1 C-USA) are coming off a 2-1 victory last Sunday at Old Dominion and they come into the weekend in a tie for third place in Conference USA's West Division with seven points. Anissa Munson put UTSA on the board early in the contest with her second goal of the fall, while Happy Orere-Amadu’s first strike as a Roadrunner provided the game-winner in the 53rd minute. Following Friday’s contest, the Birds will close out the regular season with three of their final five matches at home as they look to secure a bid to the C-USA Tournament.
Meanwhile, the Mean Green (7-5-1, 1-2-1 C-USA) will try to rebound from back-to-back losses last week at Rice and Colorado College. With four points, North Texas enters the weekend in sixth place in the West Division. The Mean Green rank among the league’s top offenses and lead the circuit with 26 assists while ranking second with 234 shots, 86 points and 30 goals. Rachel Holden leads the team and stands second in the conference with 10 goals, including three game-winners. Haley Riley has seen the most playing time in goal (856 minutes) and she has allowed just 10 goals and collected 36 saves in 11 matches.
UTSA will look to claim its second win in Denton after taking the only previous meeting between the programs, 1-0, on Sept. 7, 2008.
