UTSA head coach Rae Rippetoe-Blair
Her thoughts on the game …

“I thought we played extremely well in the second half. We had a bunch of turnovers, so we were lucky to win the game. Turnovers have haunted us all year because we have been so nonchalant with the ball at times. Hopefully, this will give us some confidence and momentum going into the game against Texas State on Saturday.”

On snapping a seven-game losing streak …
“Any time you get out of the losing streak, it will give your team confidence. We have lost some close games, but this team works hard. They come in every day hungry to learn more.”

On the play of junior forward Cori Cooper …
“Cori had a great night. We gave her the ball with good opportunities to put it in the basket. One thing Cori does is bring a lot of energy. She is an emotional player who leaves it all on the floor.”

On playing against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s zone defense …
“Any time you knock down shots against a zone, you’ll have a good chance. We knocked them out of the zone in the first half, but then they went back to it more in the second half. Ashley Gardner did a good job of knocking down shots against that zone. They were really double and triple-teaming Cori in the paint. Anytime you can move the ball in and out against the zone and knock down shots, you are putting yourself in a good spot.”
