Women's basketball program awarded Director's Cup
SAN ANTONIO — At the recent UTSA Athletics All-Sports Banquet, the women’s basketball team was awarded the Director’s Cup.
The Director’s Cup is the award presented to the UTSA team that performs the most community service during an academic year.
Head coach Luby Liconczak and his team participated in a myriad of both on and off-campus community service endeavors throughout the year to earn the service honor.
Beginning in August, the team helped fellow students move in to their dorm rooms and progressed to participating in the Ava’s Wish 5K. The group also served as For The Kids (FTK) fashion show escorts and participated in the FTK dance marathon. FTK is the largest student-run non-profit organization in San Antonio. The players also participated in the Rowdy Readers program at May Elementary and the Rowdy Runner Kid’s Club program.
Additionally, the team participated in the Adopt a Family for Christmas initiative, the Women in Sports Day on Feb. 8, hosted Old Dominion in the Play 4 Kay game on Feb. 22, worked the Conference USA Boy’s and Girl’s Club play day at the C-USA Tournament in El Paso and held an open house and coach’s clinic at UTSA.
