UTSA to wrap up road trip this weekend with three matches in Bayou State

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will close out a five-match road trip this weekend with a trio of Western Athletic Conference (WAC) contests at the Louisiana Tech Tennis Complex in Ruston, La.

The Roadrunners (5-7, 0-1 WAC) will take on No. 63 Denver at 2 p.m. on Friday, Utah State at the same time the following day and Louisiana Tech at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

UTSA is coming off back-to-back 6-1 losses to Stephen F. Austin and Abilene Christian. In Sunday's setback to the Wildcats, Irene Gandara Gonzalez collected the Roadrunners' lone point in a victory against Emily Conrad at the No. 6 position.

Isabelle Jonsson and Jacobea Junger lead the Birds in singles play with identical 7-5 records, while Jonsson and Alena Schichkova have racked up four wins at No. 1 doubles.

The Pioneers (9-3, 2-0 WAC) opened conference play last week with a pair of victories against UT Arlington and Idaho. Sophia Bergner leads Denver with an 8-2 mark in singles competition, while the duo of Bergner and Steffi Rath have collected eight wins in doubles action.

Meanwhile, the Aggies (5-6, 0-1 WAC) dropped a 5-2 decision at UT Arlington last Saturday. McKenzie Davis leads the singles contingent with an 8-2 record, while Davis and Jaci West combined for a 5-2 records in doubles play.

The Lady Techsters (8-4, 3-1 WAC) have won seven of their last eight matches, including a 4-0 victory against Seattle last Saturday. Manoela Chiacchio has racked up seven wins between Nos. 4 and 6 singles, while Chiacchio and Vivian ten Dolle have posted a 7-4 record in doubles competition.
