UTSA head coach Brooks Thompson
Opening statement …
“We were fortunate to win tonight, to be perfectly honest. We got a few breaks late in the game, but Southeastern did a great job. They are a very well-coached team. That game could have easily gone the other way. Southeastern deserves a lot of credit. It’s upsetting the way we are playing right now and we have to figure out what is going on.”

On taking advantage of forced turnovers …
“We are hammering that away, but we’re not converting on their turnovers. We’re turning the ball over too much and we’re giving up too many transition points”

On a sub-par scoring night for Melvin Johnson III …
“Melvin did not have his normal Melvin game, but the three that he hit was huge. It really turned the tide of the game. He had a couple of big rebounds late and that was crucial.”

On Larry Wilkins getting a sixth year of eligibility …
“I’m so happy for Larry. It couldn’t happen to a better person. Larry and his family are just wonderful San Antonio people. It was a stressful time for Larry. It’s so important to him to be out on the floor. He deserves that year. It was an emotional practice yesterday when we got the news. The first thing he did was thank the NCAA, thank our administration, thank compliance and the coaches, and most importantly, thank his teammates and the training staff. We are ecstatic. Our team got better today. There’s no doubt about that. It makes a coach sleep better at night knowing that he’s back.”
