Volleyball inks Broussard to fill out recruiting class
SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA volleyball team announced the signing of Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC) setter Morgan Broussard as part of head coach Laura Neugebauer-Groff’s recruiting class.
A native of Gering, Neb., Broussard was an honorable mention all-state and all-conference performer at Gering High School before signing on to play at Western Nebraska the past two seasons.
The 5-foot-9 setter played in a total of 191 games and amassed 913 career assists and 274 digs for the Cougars, who finished the season 40-4 and placed fifth at the NJCAA Division I Tournament.
When speaking to Mark Rein of WNCC, Broussard described what led her to choose UTSA.
“From the very beginning, they were No. 1 on my list," she said. "They were always contacting me and that is why I chose there because from the very beginning they wanted me. When I went on my visit, it was perfect. Honestly, I was thinking ‘how am I going to leave here because the coaches were amazing.’ They have a good coaching staff and their game is the same and the way they run practices is the same. It will be a comfortable move.”
Broussard completes this year's class that already features Megan Slan (Leander) and Marijeta Runjic (Croatia).
