UTSA to face Texas A&M on Thursday in first round of NCAA Tournament
INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Committee announced Sunday evening that Conference USA Regular Season and Tournament Champion UTSA (24-7) will travel north to Austin for next week's NCAA Tournament. The Roadrunners (24-7) will begin play at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, against Texas A&M (18-11).
Defending National Champion and top-ranked Texas (23-2) will host Texas State (24-12) at 7 p.m. in the bracket's other matchup. Thursday's winners will meet at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, with the opportunity to move on to the Lincoln (Neb.) Regional.
UTSA and Texas A&M will square off for the second time this fall. The Aggies claimed a four-set road victory back on Sept. 6 in the final match of the UTSA Classic and they have won all nine of the previous meetings between the two programs.
The Roadrunners will be playing in their third NCAA Tournament in program history and first since 2010 when they were swept by Texas in Austin.
